TWAIFHTATRM Chapter 68

The Wealthy and Influential Fiancé Has the Ability to Read Minds

Chapter 68

Even though it was clear Tang Nuan was putting on an act, Jiang Zhan still had to grit his teeth and speak up. “Regarding the issue of Miss Tang targeting our platform and causing financial losses, it is a rumor. In reality, the Jiang family has indeed earned one billion from her efforts, and we acknowledge that.”

Admitting openly was better than letting it appear as though they couldn’t handle a young girl’s schemes, and it would at least present them as magnanimous.

“One billion?” Sun Wanqu stared at Jiang Zhan in disbelief. “What do you mean, one billion? Did she make one billion? How is that possible?”

Jiang Zhan was infuriated with her. If it weren’t for her, the Jiang family wouldn’t be facing such humiliation today. “It is indeed one billion. Miss Tang’s ingenuity is admirable.”

Ye Zhenghong and Jiang Miao were both shocked, with Jiang Miao almost wanting to scream that it was impossible. However, Jiang Zhan’s admission left no room for doubt. Jiang Miao had already tried to restrain her mother.

Ye Zhenghong also recalled his recent comments about Tang Nuan in front of everyone, and he instinctively looked toward Xie Jianzhong and the others, who nodded in acknowledgment.

They all knew! No wonder Tang Nuan had been smiling so strangely earlier! Ye Zhenghong felt a rush of blood to his head and wished he could find a hole to hide in.

“Mom!”

Sun Wanqiu had an even harder time dealing with it.

Feeling the gazes around her, Sun Wanqiu was momentarily transported back three years to when Ye Shuyan and Tang Nuan had just gotten engaged. The looks she received then were similar to those she was getting now.

In the three years since, she had kept a low profile, waiting for her moment to shine. Yet, Tang Nuan had once again ruined it for her!

Her entire body swayed, and Ye Shuchen quickly stepped forward to support her. “Mom, are you okay?”

Ye Zhenghong reacted and rushed over to support her. “Let’s go upstairs and call a doctor.”

Ye Shuchen hurried off to find a doctor, and the whole family left the scene.

In the hall, Ye Shuyan was the only host left. The guests were considering whether to take their leave, but to their surprise, Ye Shuyan, who usually didn’t handle these matters, took the initiative to continue hosting. “Sorry for the earlier disturbance. For the second half of the evening, we have prepared some fine wine for everyone. Please do stay and enjoy.”

This meant the party would go on, and everyone was quite pleased. After all, it would be disappointing to end such an event prematurely when there were still things to discuss.

Not wanting to embarrass the host, no one brought up what had happened earlier. Everything returned to normal, but the dynamics had shifted, turning the event into a showcase for Ye Shuyan and Tang Nuan.

With Ye Shuyan taking on responsibilities, he couldn’t stay by Tang Nuan’s side all the time. So, Tang Nuan had to handle things on her own, occasionally taking on the role of hostess and attending to guests who needed assistance.

Having dealt with previous situations, Tang Nuan was no longer nervous. Her conversation and interactions flowed naturally, making her seem completely at ease.

Ye Zhenghong and the others, perhaps feeling embarrassed or something else, stayed away until the end of the party. It was only then that Ye Shuchen, the actual host, had to appear and wrap things up.

Ye Shuyan didn’t contest this and immediately passed on the responsibilities, continuing to act as a guest. Ye Shuchen, despite his thick skin, pretended nothing had happened and mingled with the guests. However, without Ye Zhenghong and compared to Ye Shuyan, he had little of value to offer.

As the evening drew to a close, guests began to politely take their leave. Tang Nuan was also preparing to leave, but Ye Shuyan still had a few things left to discuss.

Ji Yun stayed with her while they talked. Ji Yun remarked, “You’ve changed so much today. I almost didn’t recognize you.”

She laughed and continued, “Remember when you used to cling to Ye Shuyan at parties, always worried about being bullied? Look at you now. Even the Jiang family has to bow to you.”

Tang Nuan was momentarily stunned as she realized that after Ye Shuyan left, she felt no trace of worry or fear, even though it was Ye Shuchen’s welcome banquet and Ye Zhenghong, Sun Wanqiu, and the Jiang family were all present.

Moreover, the Jiang family bowing to her was not out of pressure from Ye Shuyan or Tang Yue’s dominance but was entirely due to her own efforts. She had made them acknowledge her on her own terms.

She had gained confidence.

This confidence stemmed from the one billion she earned from the Jiang family, the strict attention of the Xie family on the Nuanyang system, the unconditional support from Tang Jinxin and Shen Jinhua, and Ye Shuyan’s guidance…

She couldn’t help but look ahead, where Ye Shuyan was saying his final goodbyes. When she glanced over, he seemed to sense her gaze and their eyes met almost immediately. They shared a smile, and Tang Nuan felt a sweet warmth spreading in her heart.

And there was his respect and mentorship…

At that moment, she suddenly felt she was capable of standing beside him!

Ye Shuyan’s heart stirred as he gazed at her. So, she had confidence now? Could it mean she might be open to considering a future together, where mutual affection could lead them to be together without the need for a formal engagement?

Ji Yun, feeling overwhelmed by the romantic exchange between them, couldn’t take it any longer. “Ugh, this is so mushy. I’m leaving now!”

Tang Nuan smiled and walked with Ye Shuyan towards the exit. On their way, they ran into Director Li, whom they had chatted with earlier. The director noticed her and waved with a smile, pulling out a business card from her handbag. “I heard you’re working on a film project. If you need any collaboration, let’s talk.”

Tang Nuan’s eyes brightened, and she eagerly took the card. “Thank you, Auntie Li!” Although it was just a secretary’s contact, it still represented recognition of her efforts. Tang Nuan looked at Ye Shuyan, momentarily overwhelmed with the desire to hug him in gratitude.

Ye Shuyan grinned, ready to open his arms in response. Just then, Xie Jianzhong, who had followed behind, remarked with a smile, “She really is still a child, isn’t she?”

Director Zhang, who was with Xie Jianzhong, added, “But the younger generation has great potential. The future is promising.” He continued, “If you have good projects, remember to think of Uncle. Ye Shuyan has my contact information.”

So it wasn’t just polite talk; they genuinely recognized her!

Tang Nuan looked towards Ye Shuyan, who was already prepared to embrace her, when suddenly she heard Jiang Miao’s angry voice from behind. “Tang Nuan, you’re despicable. You deliberately framed Aunt Sun and Uncle Ye. You’re always sharp-tongued and never care about the bigger picture. You’re just trying to make them lose face and undermine Ye Shuchen!”

Tang Nuan turned around. The parking lot was still crowded with people, and Jiang Miao was clearly speaking to attract attention.

“Don’t think your clumsy tricks go unnoticed by everyone,” Jiang Miao continued.

“Oh, so you’re trying to outsmart everyone here? Can’t you tell you’re a fool?”

But what if they do see through it? She hasn’t done anything wrong.

Tang Nuan looked at her and sighed faintly, “If that’s how you want to think, there’s nothing I can do about it. But if it’s really as you say, do you think it’s because I’m so capable, or because Ye Shuchen is lacking?”

If you want to call me despicable, fine. Then just admit that Ye Shuchen is incompetent!

Jiang Miao was indeed left speechless.

Tang Nuan continued, “Maybe you’ve been in the celebrity world for too long. In our circle, there isn’t that many conflicts. I spend all my time with Shuyan, and I haven’t seen anyone trying to undermine him.”

Someone, unable to hold back, laughed softly. A few people quickly got into their cars, possibly to hide and laugh.

Tang Nuan’s words were simply too hurtful. No one suppresses Ye Shuyan more than his own family. They all united to put him down, yet Ye Shuyan didn’t seem to feel it at all.

How capable could Ye Shuchen really be?

In the car, Tang Nuan laughed uncontrollably. “Oh, did you see Jiang Miao’s face? It was absolutely hilarious.”

“I just wanted to snag a contact, but ended up stealing the entire event. Hahaha.” The welcome banquet that Ye Zhenghong meticulously prepared for Ye Shuchen ended up being tailor-made for her.

“As expected,” Ye Shuyan said with a neutral expression, “now let’s take a look at the business card from Director Li.”

Make sure to give me a hug later as a thank you.

“Oh, right!” Tang Nuan excitedly fished out the business card from Director Li and couldn’t help but kiss it. “This, I will definitely make good use of! I won’t let Director Li’s expectations down!”

Ye Shuyan looked at the lipstick mark on the card and paused for a moment, then cleared his throat and continued, “Also, Director Xie and Director Zhang both appreciate you very much.”

Tang Nuan nodded happily and suddenly turned to Ye Shuyan, “Since they all appreciate me, doesn’t that prove I really have potential?”

“Hmm? What are you stretching your arms for?”

Ye Shuyan: …

Don’t you want to throw yourself and hug me? Why the sudden change of heart?!

Looking at Tang Nuan’s puzzled eyes, Ye Shuyan thought, why isn’t this stubborn blockhead with mind-reading abilities?!

The author has something to say:
President Ye: Tang Nuan, you blockhead, come over here and hug me!President Ye: She forgot about the hug, so she wouldn’t have forgotten about the fact that they were in love with each other, right?
